Audrey Sourroubille Arnold

My belief is that the understanding of our epigenetics (a.k.a. DNA) and the treating of the root causes of the health problems, and not just symptoms, are the key to being happy, healthy and healed. Sometimes, by just changing a few things in our life, we can make a tremendous difference to our health! I am dedicated to helping women around the world with their health, because I know there is a better way and I believe that every woman deserves to discover it!

I learned the holistic way to achieve hormone balance, and I want to help you do it too!

Hi, I’m Audrey.

I know you want nothing more than to feel like yourself, but it’s been so long. You’ve almost forgotten what your true self feels like! You dream of a pain-free day when you feel energised, joyful and healthy, but instead you:

  • Wake up feeling groggy and it just gets worse as the day goes on. It’s all you can do to just function, with nothing left over for doing what you love!
  • Always feel bloated, constipated, and uncomfortable.
  • Struggle with anxiety and nervousness. Even when you know everything is okay, you still feel like something bad is about to happen.
  • Are irritable much of the time and find yourself snapping at loved ones and co-workers even when there’s no reason to.
  • Suffer from joint pain that makes it difficult to much more than lay in bed or on the couch.
  • Look 10 years older than you are due to dry, brittle hair, peeling nails, and dry, dull skin.
  • Battle thyroid disease or autoimmune disorders that just seem to get worse.
  • Struggle with daily pain from endometriosis, PCOS or fibroids.

I know you feel alone, scared, and frustrated. But you’re not alone!

I also want to tell you that there IS hope to get better!

I know this because I’ve been EXACTLY where you are right now!

Let Me Tell You a Story…

My menstrual cycle has always been a nightmare. During my teen years, PMS made me miserable, while heavy periods and horrible cramps caused me to feel like I was dying every month. At one point in time, I was menstruating every 2 weeks. And then it didn’t stop for over a month. I also had bad acne. I always felt overweight even though I was working out every day. My doctor and parents chalked it up to me being a teenager. I was given hormones to stop the bleeding, iron to help with the blood loss. And that’s it. They just thought I’d grow out of it.

But in my mid-20s, I still hadn’t grown out of anything. In fact, I felt even worse than ever. Besides the monthly pain, I now had daily cramps after every meal I had. And no one could tell me why! I was studying at the time in Milan and it was quite a stressful time. Now, I know I had endometriosis + IBS… though I was never formally diagnosed with the latter. Lethal combination…

Somehow after a while, I got the IBS pain to reduce by decreasing the number of vegetables I was eating (go figure!). I was still struggling with daily bloating, farting and cramps though. And working long hours as an auditor only partially helped. At the time when I would come home in the evening, I didn’t have food at home. Very often, my two meals for the day were breakfast (at work) and lunch (at work). This helped to reduce the amount of inflammation in my body, though by morning I was starving.

When I moved to London a year later to work at JP Morgan as an analyst, stress reduced. I was able to both eat better (I prepared almost all my meals myself and only ate foods without sauce at the canteen) and move more. This helped to control better the bloating, farting and cramps.

Hitting Rock Bottom…

Most people in their early 30s dream of buying a home, taking a vacation or starting a family.

It was 2011. I was living in Switzerland (still am) and working again crazy hours as a financial analyst in Private Equity.

My dream: not living in pain!

The menstrual pain I was experiencing increased to the point when I had pain daily.

I was depressed, burned out, had PMS, anxiety, nervousness, paranoia, etc. I was prescribed anti-depressants that didn’t help. They only made me feel more tired.

I was losing my hair like crazy. This led me to cut long beautiful hair to have them super short, so I didn’t see anymore how much hair I was losing! I was prescribed iron but it only partially helped.

I was gaining weight and not being able to lose it, despite exercising every day and following a diet called Metabolic Balance. I now know that this same diet drove me to high inflammation that was the onset of the endometriosis flare-ups.

I was experiencing joint pain, which didn’t help with exercising either.

I felt like I was carrying the whole world on my shoulders, and that this would never change.

I had surgery and I was diagnosed then with severe endometriosis and one blocked tube.

I didn’t know what to do, but I knew I didn’t want my only options to be surgery and/or medical treatments.

Making a Choice

I did go through two surgeries and hormonal treatments that made me sick and gain weight.

Though I wasn’t in pain on a daily basis anymore because I had no periods, I couldn’t keep going through life like that. I had to do something, anything, to try and get better.

I’d always just done what the doctors told me, but clearly, that wasn’t working. I started doing research on my symptoms, especially my awful periods and feeling of exhaustion. I found out that hormone imbalances led to every single symptom I’d been experiencing – even symptoms I’d gotten used to over the years.

Now that I had an answer, I felt better. But now I wanted to know what to do about it. I wanted a natural way to get better because I was DONE with prescriptions at this point. They weren’t working and definitely NOT a long-term solution if I ever wanted to have a family. Plus, doctor’s appointments and medications were costing a fortune.

More research showed me the role that food played in my hormone health. That was the first I’d heard of this!

Sugar, chemicals, and all the artificial ingredients found in our food were at the root of my hormone imbalance. I thought about my diet – 2-3 coca colas a day and sugary treats to keep me awake while working, microwavable meals, sandwiches, etc. These were the majority of what I ate because I had no time to cook. I was coming home if lucky around 8 pm and everything was closed. While I didn’t want to cook, I also wanted to spend that time with my husband, so prepared food was the option at the time.

Not only were these foods harming my body, but I was forgoing the nutrients and vitamins my body truly needed to thrive and optimise my health!

I decided to toss out all the artificial junk in my house and focus on nourishing my body with what it needed: lean proteins, whole grains, fruits and vegetables!

What a difference this made!

In just a few weeks, I felt an incredible difference.

In addition, I embarked on a complete lifestyle change, besides improving my nutrition, I also improved my way of living and my mindset. I looked into adding the right type of supplements for me, and of course stress relief. I looked at my emotions and how they were creating additional forms of inflammation in my body. I looked into food intolerances and genetics.

Some of the benefits I have seen as a result of all these shifts include:

  • No endometriosis symptoms left.
  • No more joint pain.
  • Sleeping better than I had in years.
  • More energy, though it’s something I need to look at closely as I know my adrenals need constant daily support.
  • No more bloating.
  • An optimisation of fertility, leading to pregnancy in 2016. My twin boys were born in December 2016.
  • A reduction in pain which can now be managed through simple breathing techniques & Emotional Freedom Technique. This has diminished to the point where I no longer need to take painkillers regularly as I did before. And in fact, since the birth of my twin boys, I only sometimes have very light menstrual cramps and only when I’ve been working too much and not sleeping enough.
  • A decrease in PMS symptoms, such as deep anxiety and mood swings.
  • A better-looking skin and fewer wrinkles.

This is my Journey

Diagnosis of Endometriosis

I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2011. Back then I started to be in pain almost daily, and had no clue where that was coming from. That is, until a friend mentioned to me to check out symptoms from endometriosis, and I recognised myself in almost all of them. I underwent a surgery later that year, and started strong hormonal treatments.

Back at zero & Corporate Burnout

The hormonal treatment that I was going through helped partially. Though I was in no pain because I wasn’t menstruating, I started to feel symptoms of menopause, inflammation all over my body with pain in my joints, and pilled on more kilos than I would have wanted. Being overworked didn’t help either.

Taking a break and discovering how to take my health into my own hands

At the end of 2012, I was so exhausted and in so much pain, that I discussed with my employer at the time to take a 6-month unpaid sabbatical to rest and recover. Though this is not what I had initially intended, after resting and recovering some of my strength, I started looking into natural solutions for endometriosis, and soon discovered that there were many things I could do to get out of the pain that I was again in. I just needed to find the right tools and start. Luckily I had over 30 hours a week over a 6-month period to do my research. This lead me to start Lotus Power Health in September of 2013. Despite this work, I had to have surgery again later that year. But now, I knew what I needed to do to really heal from the inside out.

More work on myself and more knowledge acquisition

As I had decided in 2013 that I wanted to start a new career within the health industry, and share what I had learnt that helped me get almost out of pain, I enrolled into different certification in 2013 and 2014: the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the HormoneCure practitioner course, and the Integrative Women’s Health Institute. If you’d like to learn more about my thoughts on these courses, I invite you to check out this page.

More certification courses and corporate trainings

Before you say it, yes, I’m a knowledge junky! 😃 I enrolled into further certification courses at The Health Sciences Academy and through other certification institutes to broaden my expertise so that I could help my clients find the path that works for them, a.k.a. bio-individuality.

Since I was at the time working part time for a big insurance company, and they were open to it, I also started giving workshops internally on the principles of eating for energy as well as work-life balance.

Big decision time and miracle/surprise pregnancy

As you know by now, my genetic make-up makes me prone to endometriosis if I don’t do the right things to support my body and my health. As a consequence, it also makes it a lot more difficult for me to get pregnant AND stay pregnant. What I didn’t tell you is that my husband was also diagnosed with azoospermia. As such getting pregnant and staying pregnant would truly be a miracle. That’s when we decided to let go of the idea of ever being parents after 5 years of trying, but still decided to give one shot to IVF. And the miracle happened: I got pregnant, stayed pregnant — even though I had to stay in bed for the whole pregnancy minus one month AND in the hospital the last two months until birth — and gave birth to healthy twin boys on December 20, 2016.

Extra self-care practices and new life as a mom to twin boys

2017 was a year of partial healing sprinkled with many decisions, reflexions, growing as a mom and as a couple. It wasn’t always easy. I had to recover from a C-section for which I was in pain daily for over 6-weeks, and still am from time to time. I had to learn this new exhausting schedule of being a mom and feeding underweight babies (which my boys are lucky they didn’t stay for so long). I had to practice self-care when I could, even when that meant just 5 minutes a day. I had to let go further of my perfectionism and rethink of the way I wanted to create my business, which lead me later to start AudreySArnold.com, a business strategy and consulting business that helps female entrepreneurs save time and get out of overwhelm.

Self-care through online events

In 2018, I created a fun challenge for myself which was to share through bi-monthly webinars some of what I know. You can find these in the Academy

Self-care through more online events, self-care practices and live online workshops

My Holistic Approach to Women's Health

In a field in constant evolution, we need to be going back to the basics.

Following the words of an expert over another one’s is only going to bring you so far. While you’re applying principles that “work for everybody”, you’re going to get the same results than everyone else, that is not the results you want. That’s why it’s important to look both into your genetic make-up and into your bio-individuality™.

I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected.

Are your PMS symptoms enhanced by stress in your job?
Is your pelvic pain preventing you to sleep, and affecting not only your emotional state but also your relationships?
Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat?
Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising?

As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding. We look into creating a plan of action that is fun and brings results, and we build on it over time.

Together we’ll work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal health

and your ideal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy.

As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

Your Genes Matter: What if you could control your genes?

I want to start by introducing you to the science that in my opinion starts it all, which is epigenetics.

Have you already heard that your genes affect how healthy you can be?

Do you think that your genetic destiny is fixed?

I so, I want to let you in on a SECRET:

Your Genes Are Not Your Destiny!
Your genes don’t lay down the law, they negotiate with you every single day with every single action that you take.

The process of epigenetics tells us that you can turn your genes on and off. You can transform your genetic destiny through a combination of diet, supplements, sleep, stress relief, and reduced exposure to environmental toxins. Environmental toxins are the toxins in our food, water, air, and products. With the right tools, we can change our inherited tendencies to disease to create new and healthy lives.

Ever since I discover about epigenetics, I’ve felt compelling to combine the progress of science and our own body wisdom. Epigenetics, bio-individuality, food intolerances, and another one of my most beloved topics: hormones.

Since our genetic destiny isn’t fixed, and it can be edited, rewritten, changed, I am obsessed with finding the best tools to help my loved ones, my clients and you thrive, so that you can lead a life that is more impactful.

So it has become my mission to develop protocols that allow us to identify faster what works for you, and to share these tools either freely during masterclasses, social media posts, eBooks, articles on the website, or through my paid online courses and 1-on-1 programs. In the 1-on-1 programs, I am including thanks to collaborations with partners genetic testing, hormones testing, neurotransmitters testing, food and non-food intolerances testing, metals toxicity testing and nutritional deficiency testing.

I understand body language and I want you to understand it too. Epigenetics is a cutting-edge aspect of holistic health and I love to help you understand and translate what your body says to you, so that you know how to interpret the signs and thrive without delay.

That’s where The Optimised Health Formula comes in.

What is The Optimised Health Formula?

This is how I’ve called the 5-step system that I lead my clients through.

Because men and women are different in nature, and when we allow for ourselves to discover more about these differences and bio-individuality, we can thrive in our daily life.

Since 2013, I have helped 100s of women struggling with infertility, hormonal imbalances, PMS, menstrual cramps, pelvic pain due to endometriosis, PCOS, or fibroids, and general exhaustion (what you call burnout), to reclaim their health & wellness, balance their hormones, tweak their diet and lifestyle to live each and every day more energised, confident and successful.

Mind you, this is not my first career, but I’m really great at it!!

Plus I’ve got the certifications to back the results up! 🙂

Integrative Nutrition® Plate

The Integrative Nutrition Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water. It shows you how a plate should appear at mealtime and emphasizes the importance of proportions and portion size. I’ll introduce you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find what’s healthiest for your unique body!

Primary Food™

It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

Bio-Individuality™

The concept of bio-individuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.

Crowding Out

Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. My approach is different – by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply put, you will “crowd out” the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to make happen, but I will support you all the way.

Deconstructing Cravings

Cravings play a critical role in understanding what your body needs and shouldn’t be ignored. When you learn how to deconstruct your cravings and understand what they’re really telling you, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony.
