You can do many things to end your year off right and make sure you have a happy, productive, and healthy year coming up. One excellent thing to do is organise your home and life.

Here are some ways to get things organised before the year is over.

Take Inventory and Purge

Before you can organise your space, you need to get rid of what no longer serves you. This leaves more room in various spaces in your home for proper organisation and decluttering.

When you have a hard time keeping your home organised, you often have too much stuff for that space.

You can either:

  • add more storage options, or
  • start to declutter.

Go room by room, looking on every shelf, in every cabinet, and inside every drawer. Pull out everything you don’t think you have a use for or know you want to get rid of. This is an excellent activity for the end of the year.

Choose at Least One Problem Area to Organise

If you feel overwhelmed attempting to organise everything at once: don’t!

Just choose one problem area to start with, like a junk drawer in your kitchen.

Maybe you want to organise all your food storage containers and make sure you have a lid for everything?

Maybe you want to find a new shoe rack for the shoes in your closet?

Do this a little at a time, and your home will not only be organised at the end of the year but stay organised long-term.

Add Organising to Your New Years’ Resolutions

When you are working on your resolutions for the new year, add organising to the list.

This helps to set the intention in your mind and allows you to create actionable steps that you will use to achieve this goal.

Maybe your resolution is to organise one area of your home every weekend?

Maybe you have a goal to keep up with your cleaning schedule throughout the next year?

These are achievable and realistic resolutions that improve the environment you live in and help you feel more accomplished.

Get Help if You Need it

Don’t be afraid to ask for help!

Whether this means having a friend over to help with the heavy lifting or just asking for someone’s advice on how to organise a specific area of your home.
